If you’re having trouble finding a simple honey label template you can easily edit and print, you’re in the right place!
We’ve designed editable label templates for those of you who want to sell your honey but don’t want to worry about creating a design. The labels were created with UK honey labelling regulations in mind. That’s why they have fields for lot numbers, best before dates, country of origin, address and weight. All the text in the templates is editable so you can enter your own details.
If you are selling honey using this label design, you should always check with your local trading standards to ensure they’re happy.
Of course, even if you don’t sell honey, you can still use the templates for honey jars as wedding favours or gifts. In fact, because all the text is editable, your creativity and the label size/design are the only limits to what you can use these for.
Included in the honey label set
There are three different sets of editable label templates. Each is intended for a different size jar. The sizes are:
- 1lb/454g jar (this label size should also fit 12oz/340g)
- 8oz (227g) jar
- 1.5oz (43g) jar
Every set of templates include:
- Main honey jar label
- Lid label
- Tamper label
The honey label design
For this label set the brief was to create a simple bee stripe design that included all the necessary requirements for labelling regulations. It also needed to be printable from most printers to allow for anyone to print it whatever printer they had.
So a simple but striking design was created for this honey label set. Used on the jar label, lid label and tamper label, the black stripes dominate the design. Unsurprisingly they are used to indicate the stripes that most people associate with bees – especially when there’s honey in the jar!
It’s in black and white for a variety of reasons. Firstly it allows anyone with a printer to use the design – you obviously don’t need a colour printer. You can also choose to print the design on a sheet of coloured labels if you’d like to introduce colour to the design. So using black and white allows you quite a bit of flexibility.
We’ve also created a hexagon themed honey label template that are available in the same sizes.
The labels to use
The templates were designed to work with the following jar and label sizes.
1lb and 12oz jars
Jar label is 75mm x 50mm
AAE010
Lid label is 45mm diameter AAC024
Tamper label is 90mm x 11mm
AAR038
8oz jars
Jar label is 63.5mm x 38.1mm
AAS021
Lid label is 37mm diameter
AACX35
Tamper label is 90mm x 11mm
AAR038
1.5oz jars:
Jar label is 60mm x 25mm
AAT030
Lid label is 25mm diameter AAC070
Tamper label is 46mm x 11.1mm
AAR084
You can use a plain white label sheet to print on or you could use coloured labels. Yellow or any other colour you’d like to incorporate into the striped design could easily be used. As the design is black and white, it’ll work on a variety of colours. You could even mix and match colours for the 3 different label elements (lid, jar and tamper). Of course yellow will probably create a more striking and appropriate look against the stripes and it will enhance the bee theme.
For a high end look you could try using clear labels so the honey shows through. If you do want to use clear labels it might be a good idea to check how it looks with some samples first. Depending on the colour of the honey, the writing and stripes may or may not look distinct on a clear label. You can change the colour of the text to create a more distinct contrast though.
The Templates
These templates have been created with Adobe and are best viewed and edited in Adobe (Adobe Reader is perfect). For instructions on how to use these and our other editable templates, go here.
Below you can see a preview of how the templates look. Beneath the preview of each template, you’ll find buttons to download the template for the particular jar size you’re interested in.
